Hey y’all, so April was a much better reading month for me, instead of 4 books, I got through 14! So, I’m pretty happy with myself. Now why the review is coming so late is because the start of May has been bad, but I’m hoping to be back with my reviews, where I have to write some for books I’ve read, and I’m hoping to finally finish my current read. Anyway, let's get to the books in April.
Little Moments of Love by Catana Chetwynd
This collection of comics are adorable and hilarious. I love the art style and the little stories they tell. For someone who isn’t in a relationship, I can’t relate to certain things, but I had a good laugh. I can’t not rate it high. I may have another coming, as apparently there is a second one! But yes, I will continue to follow the Instagram from the creator and laugh.

Daughter of the Pirate King by Trivia Levenseller
This book was a reread for me, as I just really wanted to read it. I still love this book! I mean, Alosa is basically a female Jack Sparrow, what’s not to love about that. I love the fact that Alosa is who she is, a bloodthirsty pirate who will get what she wants, and I love how when she's put into the position she is in, how she works with it. I mean she knows how to piss off people, especially men. I also love the relationship that begins to develop between her and Riden, who I adore so much, so I was always happy to read their scenes.

Daughter of the Siren Queen
Sequel to DotPK, I loved seeing more of the characters and more of Alosa’s crew, especially little Roselyn but also seeing how the three characters from Draxen’s ship, fit into hers. I loved when Alosa came to the big realisation, and how she works with it, she never strays from who she is. Yes, a strong female lead, a bloodthirsty pirate, and someone who cares fully for her crew. I wish there was ore adventures from them, I just want so much more of these characters and this world!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Shades of Magic: The Steel Prince by V. E. Schwab
The first graphic novel in the Shades of Magic GN series. I am liking the art and the direction of this short story, I was curious about the Kings past from the ADSOM series, and this shows the beginning of that history. I am really curious what else he did, and cannot wait to continue this series.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus
I don’t usually read mysteries, but I’ve discovered when I do, I really enjoy them. I loved a lot of this book, however, I wasn’t the biggest fan of one of the characters, for the most part, I felt like they were all too predictable as well. The ending, however, was predicted not too long before the reveal, but I didn’t actually think it would be like how it was. I still really enjoyed it, and I know I have the sequel and another book by the author, so I cant wait to read those in the future.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh
Another reread of the month, I loved this story when I first read it, if I’m honest, I thought I wouldn’t, but it was pretty good, and it still is. I reread it as I saw it floating around and decided why not? I still love this book, I love the developments of characters and seeing them in the world again, and it’s nice to have the insight when you read it after knowing what is actually happening.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh
A sequel I like almost equally to the first is rare, but I also really loved this book. It was different from the first but in a good way. I love that it took me on a ride that I was not expecting, but it didn’t make it easy. The ending still gets me if I’m honest, and I really appreciate how the world and the story turned out.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
These Rebel Waves by Sara Raasch
My buddy read for April with my friend Angela (@a.potter.nerd on Insta.) I really liked Raasch’s Snow Like Ashes series, and this book was a perfect pick for the month. I am fascinated by the world it is set in, and love the characters. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Ben at the beginning but grew to like him as he himself grew and realised more about what was happening. I love Dex and Lu so much, I just wanted all the scenes between them. They work so well together when they actually get things done. And I cannot wait for the next book, that ending left me screaming!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller
Described as a Slytherin romance? Yes, please. This book was such a fun read. Levenseller has a gift of writing morally grey characters. Alessandra at the beginning wants to kill the king and steal his crown, what’s more, perfect than that. I think knowing YA and whatnot, we can guess how it would end, but I still really enjoyed it. I had a feeling about the big reveal that happened at the end, even though I was hoping it wouldn’t be that. My only issue with it is I felt the ending was a little rushed, but at the same time it was pretty damn good.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout
This book is the first in the Dark Elements trilogy and was a very fun read. This series was another reread for me because I wanted to read it before reading the spin-off. I still love this book, Layla is an interesting character for many reasons, and I love Roth, just saying. I love the story and the world that is shown in the story and cannot wait to read more from this world.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stone Cold Touch
This book is my least favourite of the three, but I still enjoy more of it than I remember. I love seeing the growth of certain characters. I do have issues with certain actions of certain characters, but the ending more than makes up for it and is without a doubt my favourite part of the whole book.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Every Last Breath
Without a doubt my favourite of the lot, I loved this book for so many reasons. Not only seeing Layla really come into her own but also the repercussions of certain decisions. I also adore who she chose, so I mean, that helps. I am not a love triangle person and did not like this one, but I am happy with how it ended. I know there is a spin-off so I cannot wait to see what happens in it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bitter Sweet Love
This novella set before White Hot Kiss was adorable, Jas was a character that was throughout the series, always there. It was very interesting reading from her beginning, with her and Dez. I love them together. I know I would love it to be different because I mean who wants what happens to the female wardens, but it made sense. I just loved seeing the small bit of rebellion with her. And how Dez was there. I also loved her meeting Layla for the first time, seeing it from a different perspective, and seeing the beginning of their story. As soon as they saw Roth, I actually screamed, no joke.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Night of the Dragon by Julie Kagawa.
I have to be honest; I am still destroyed by this book. It is the final book in the Shadow of the Fox series and featured the final battle I have been waiting for. I was terrified about it, and I had every right to be so, the book utterly destroyed me. I cried for several hours while reading it. I am hoping to have a review coming shortly for it, so I can talk more about my feelings, and how much I am still hurting from it.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I almost had 15 books under my belt as I started another, but I ended the month just shy of it, and if I’m honest, I still haven’t finished it and it’s the 5th of May today. I really should get back to reading. I just need the motivation to pick it back up. But I finally did this today, so I’m one step closer, as I am finally doing something I’ve been meaning to do.
