So, it isn’t May, in fact, it's far past May. The past few months have been very crazy, not only because we are going through a global pandemic, but mentally, I have not been in a great place. Dealing with a lot of mental things, it can be draining, and very unmotivating. But even though it’s a few months late, I am finally catching up on everything I need to. So, let’s do this.
So, May was an interesting month for me. At the start, I had zero motivation to read. I couldn’t finish a book from the end of April and wanted to finish it at the start of May, but I ended up holding onto it for almost a week before I finished it. Then I began my reread of the Throne of Glass series, to finally finish it. Now, this didn’t start well either because I just didn’t want to pick up a book, but eventually, I was back, so I read a lot.
Storm and Fury by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
This book is a spinoff of the Dark Elements series and features a new protagonist. I adored this book, and I loved seeing all the new things in this story Armentrout has created. I also loved seeing my babies from the original series come back. Zayne is one of the main characters, having most interactions with the new main character Trinity, who is pretty good, she may be annoying at times, but I enjoyed her character. But as soon as I saw Cayman, I squealed, then Roth and Layla! I loved having them all back, and cannot wait for the sequel, especially after the ending of this book. So good!

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas
This book is a group of novellas telling Celaena’s story before the events of the first book. I forgot a lot of details from these novellas, like the characters who obviously come back in the series. And Sam, I forgot how little time they actually spent together, but I love them still. Sam was for Celaena, he will always be in my mind. Rowan for Aelin. But yes, I loved rereading these and familiarising myself with the story again.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Throne of Glass by SJM.
I forgot how much I enjoyed the beginning of the series. I also forgot how much I enjoyed seeing Celaena grow in this book, but still be fully herself. Going from Endover and fighting her way to champion. I still enjoy this book and love that Celaena is one of the few female protagonists that are just confident, and knows her capabilities. That’s just who she is.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Crown of Midnight by SJM.
I also forgot how much I loved this book. A lot of people complained about this one, but I liked it more than the first. Competition aside, this is where we really see Celaena’s character. She is confident but terrified about the place she’s put herself in. She is playing a dangerous game and is worried about it catching up with her. It is also where we see who she really is, and the pieces of the puzzle are put together. It’s the first step in the series, where the stakes are higher, and the story has changed.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig.
A quick break from my reread, I buddy read this month’s book club pick. This book is a retelling of the 12 Dancing Princesses and is a dark and mysterious retelling. I enjoyed the mysterious side of this book and the darkness of it. I was not expecting a lot of what happened, so I am happy that I was taken by surprise. It is up there for retellings currently, and I half wish it had a sequel, as the world was quite fascinating.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heir of Fire by SJM
The third book in the Throne of Glass series, and the book where things really start changing for all the characters. This is probably either my third or fourth favourite of the whole series, and I loved the development of all the characters. I have some big issues, but that might be put into detail later. Still, a good series overall.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Queen of Shadows by SJM
This is my favourite book of the whole series. I loved the way the characters interacted and the whole storyline. I loved seeing all the events unfold, and the development for certain characters. It was the book I felt flowed the best, and the one I enjoyed from start to finish.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Empire of Storms by SJM
That ending! We all know what I'm talking about. A very good book, and is the competitor for third or fourth, against Heir of Fire. I enjoyed it for the most part but felt it drag a couple of times. But still very enjoyable.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tower of Dawn by SJM
Now this book gets a lot of hate, but I’m one of the few who like Chaol’s character. I find his character one of the most realistic honestly. I adored this book so much, and it is second on my favourites list. I adored this book and felt that it was very enjoyable. I loved the characters, and the development they all go through. I would love more about this land and more from the characters there.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kingdom of Ash by SJM
The last book in the whole Throne of Glass series. This book is just war. All of it, a war. And at times, I felt like it shouldn’t have been as long as it is, but it is still a very enjoyable story and a pretty good ending.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
So, for May I read 10 books, which is pretty good considering at the start I was not motivated to read anything. Out of all, the three 5 stars were amazing, and I am looking forward to seeing what else I read this year to join them.
