Hey y’all, so my January was hectic, but not as much as life is going to be soon let’s just say. But I feel very proud and happy that I kept reading when I could. And I got through 12 books! So, yay!!! Half of my reads were novels, and the other half was a mix of Graphic Novels, Manga’s and Novellas. But all were great, so I had a great month of reading. Note: the ratings will be what I rated them on Goodreads, as I thought it would just be easier.

To start the month, and the year, I read the novella: The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky, which I adored so much! I loved returning to Percy and Monty and seeing them fail and be them. It was a cute short novella, and a very fun read for me.

Next was One Punch Man Vol 1. I was not expecting to love this as much as I did. I laughed so much reading it! I had been holding off this Manga and anime because it sounded stupid, and it is silly but so funny! I need to collect this series now.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Fullmetal Alchemist Vol 1 was another manga I had been holding off, and I wish I hadn't, I loved this manga too! And I need to start collecting them as well. It was just a fun read, and an interesting story to start with.

Next, I had my first buddy read of the year with my friend Angela, aka @a.potter.nerd, and we read Sorcery of Thors, the book we've been meaning to read since last June. But we've made a pact, that we will read at least one buddy read a month, hopefully two when my life isn’t as crazy. But the book was so good! It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting, but so much better! I loved the characters and the story. And I mean, books!!!!

I then struggled to pick another book, and a friend from insta picked Shadow of the Fox. I have a non-spoiler review up for it, but basically, I loved it. It was a fascinating read for me, and so enjoyable. Another great Kagawa book!

I then had to go and buy the second book and read that as soon as I could after it. Just like the first, it was so good! And also, like the first, left me desperate for the sequel, which isn’t out until the end of March/early April. I need it! (I also have a review for this book, but it spoils Shadow of the Fox, obviously.)

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

A Curse so Dark and Lonely, or ACSDAL, was one of my favourite books last year, and since I was about to get the sequel, I decided a reread was in order, and I remembered how much I loved that book. Still amazing and so fun! – Another review is up, damn, my reviewing game is going good for some of these.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

A Heart so Fierce and Broken, (AHSFAB) sequel to the previous book, was one of my most anticipated releases of the year. A lot of people felt disappointed by it, but personally? I still loved it. I felt at some points, it wasn’t as good as the first, but rarely do I think sequels are, but I still loved the story, and the characters… except one. You know who you are! (Another review is up for this one. 4 in a month. Wow I’m on a roll!)

Next, my friend Kaitlyn, @kpbookstagram, recommended This Mortal Coil. I am currently writing a review for this one, so it’s coming... hopefully. But it was a very interesting read. Suvada is a woman of STEM, and it shows in her writing, so that part of my brain, the science and math side, that I haven’t used in a long time, got a good workout. I really did enjoy the book, only some small issues here and there. But I cant wait to continue the series.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I then read the very short novella, These Precious Scars, because I could get the ebook, and decided why not. And it wasn’t bad, just gave a little insight into some of the characters. I recommend if you want to read this series, read this after at least the first book. I don’t know about the second yet, but you do need a little bit of info before starting this. But its short, so that’s good.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Pumpkin Heads by Rainbow Rowell was adorable, to say the least, It was a quick read and slightly predictable, but my gods, so cute! I love Rowell’s writing and found this story to feel like her others, although, now I want more! I just love these characters and cant wait to see what they do next!

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

And lastly, my final book for the year was another graphic novel. Heartstopper Vol. 2. I adored the first last year, and this one was just as adorable. It has that cringy cuteness about it, but I still love the story. The ending almost made me cry, and I cannot wait for the next one.

Those were my January reads, 12 books is quite a good number for me. Now with moving and settling, the next two months are going to be more interesting. And so hectic. So, wish me luck in trying to get through some books!

Side note! I do have a book club starting this month as well! Go and check it out!!! @thousand.pagesbookclub on Instagram!
